I would recommend you to give an MP3 or MP4 player. It's quite ordinary but if you are giving her a birthday present, you may give her an MP3.But you should make it special by singing a birthday song for her.
If you know Flash, you can also make birthday animation for her and put it in MP4 player. She'll be surprised hearing your voice and your animation.
